Terms and Conditions

These terms apply when a school uses Funda, the school management system provided by Starbase Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). By starting a trial or subscribing, the school ("you", "your") agrees to them. Please read them with our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

Funda is an online system for managing learner records, fees, receipts, statements, reports and staff access. We may improve, change or add features over time. If we remove a feature you rely on, we will tell you in advance.

2. Free trial

Every school can try Funda free for one month, with full access.
We set you up at no cost during the trial. You pay nothing upfront.
At the end of the trial you choose whether to subscribe. If you don't, you owe nothing, and we handle your records as set out in section 8.

3. Fees and billing

Fees are charged in US dollars, per school, per term, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
Fees are billed at the start of each term. You may instead pay for a full year at the discounted annual rate.
Your size band is set by the number of active learners at the start of each term.
A once-off setup fee of $100 covers loading your data and a training day at your school. It is only charged if you subscribe after your trial, and appears on your first invoice. Travel costs for schools further away are quoted and agreed before the visit.
Usage-based extras, such as SMS messages once available, are charged separately according to use.
Invoices are payable within 14 days unless your invoice states otherwise.

4. Price changes

Prices shown on our website are subject to change. If we change our prices, we will give you at least 30 days' notice. Any period you have already paid for stays at the price you paid; the new price applies from your next billing period.

5. Your account and staff

You decide which staff get accounts and what each person can see and do.
You are responsible for keeping passwords private and for activity on your school's accounts. Tell us straight away if you think an account has been misused.
You must not use Funda for anything unlawful, or try to access data belonging to another school.

6. Your data

Your school owns its data, including learner, parent, staff and fee records. We only use it to provide and support Funda for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for making sure you are allowed to record the information you put into Funda, including information about learners and their parents or guardians.

You can ask us for an export of your data at any time while you are subscribed, and for 90 days after your subscription ends.

7. Accuracy of records

Funda helps you keep accurate records, but the school remains responsible for checking the information entered, including payments recorded and receipts issued. Funda does not replace your school's own financial controls.

8. Lapsed subscriptions and cancellation

You can stop your subscription at the end of any paid period by telling us in writing.
If a subscription lapses or a trial ends without subscribing, access is paused and your records are kept safe. They come back as soon as you subscribe or renew.
If you have not renewed within 12 months, we may permanently delete your school's records. We will contact you at least 30 days before doing so.
Fees already paid are not refundable for the period they cover, unless the law requires otherwise.

9. Availability and support

We work to keep Funda available and to fix problems quickly, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted, for example during maintenance, internet or power outages, or events outside our control. We will give notice of planned maintenance where we can.

10. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of income. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and tell subscribed schools about important changes before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of Zimbabwean courts.
